Jean L. Friedel, (nee Sebanc), 92, found everlasting peace on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Cedar Community, West Bend.
She was born on December 18, 1923 to the late Anton and Louise (nee Pecak) Sebanc in Milwaukee. Jean was a graduate of the Business Institute and attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Prior to her marriage she lived in New Orleans, LA. In 1946 she was united in marriage to Paul Friedel in West Allis and lived and raised their family in West Bend. She later moved to Los Angeles area, where she lived and worked for eight years. For the past 25 years Jean lived in Mequon before moving to Cedar Community.
Jean has volunteered, starting in her high school days, as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, and treasurer of the Boy Scouts of West Bend. She enjoyed working as a beautician for the resident ladies in the Samaritan Home in West Bend. She set up programs and was chairman for the Wisconsin Mental Health Association’s monthly meetings. She also volunteered at the Thousand Oaks Convalarium in CA. and was a Eucharist minister at UCLA children’s cancer ward, and had been a volunteer at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee for 14 years. Jean loved to travel and has visited 31 countries. Jean was involved with a study club for many years in West Bend where she made lifelong friends.
Those Jean leaves behind to cherish her memories include her five children, Robert (Linda) Friedel of Kewaskum, Patti (Craig) Nicastro of St. Croix VI, Mary Miller of Carmel CA., Peggy (Mark) Stepanski of Williamsport, PA., and Thomas Friedel of Waukesha; ten grandchildren, Tania Friedel, Philip Friedel, Aggie Severson, Rebecca Friedel, Toby (Pia) Nicastro, Stacy (Jon) Foster, Leah Miller, Andrew Miller, and Brandon Avalos,; Ten great-grandchildren, Dash, Amina, Bennett, Elliot, Layla, Elise, Lauren, Mike, Nick, and Patrick; sister, Angela Bois of Santa Monica CA.; three brothers, Ed Sebanc of Santa Monica CA., John (Judy) Sebanc of Scottsdale AZ., and Jim (Betsy) Sebanc of Galina IL.; other relatives and friends.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Friedel; brother, Rudy Sebanc.
A Memorial service in remembrance of Jean will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St.) West Bend.
Jean’s family will be greeting family and friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
