Alan S. Linquist
February 26, 2025
Alan S. Linquist, 69, passed peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Alan began his journey on June 7, 1955, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, as the beloved son of Wayne and Jeanne (nee Kaueffling) Linquist.
Alan grew up in both Kansas City, MO. and Rockford, IL. He graduated Rockford East High School in 1973.
On September 6, 1986, he married his best friend and life partner Joni Staalson in Milwaukee, WI where they resided and raised two children, Joe and Emma, to whom he was devoted.
Alan qualified as a chemist and worked at Raabe Paint Corporation/Valspar Co. for 36 years, a long and faithful employee.
Throughout his life, Alan was an accomplished plein air artist, creating many beautiful and award winning oil paintings; landscapes around Milwaukee, West Bend and his environs. Painting gave his life meaning and purpose.
Alan was a past president of the League of Milwaukee Artists. A creator and host of Matinees on Main Street, a podcast of the history of film. He had an extensive collection of top 40 music from the 1950s to the 1990s. Alan was an avid bird watcher and participated in the annual bird in Washington county. Alan was a voracious reader of American and European history; and a genealogist and historian of his family lines. Alan had an encyclopedic memory as he could recall a wide range of information in great detail.
Alan leaves behind his wife and two children, Joe and Emma (Joel); siblings, Diane (Rod), Sandra, Patty (Bob), and John (Sandi); nieces and nephews, Kelly, Eric, Veronica, Bridgett, and Piper; grandnieces Addison and Alyssa; and many other dear friends and relatives.
A memorial gathering will be held later in the year.
Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Alan’s arrangements. Additional information can be found at www.myrhum-patten.com.
