Alban L. “Mousie” Nigh, 85, of the town of Auburn, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.
He was born on February 9, 1925, in Campbellsport, the son of the late Elmer and Evaline (Schmidt) Nigh, and on April 8, 1947, he was united in marriage to Dorothy C. Harter at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. The couple made their home in the town of Auburn where they farmed all of their lives. In their younger years, Alban and Dorothy were members of the Beechwood Dance Club. Dorothy preceded Alban in death on November 8, 2006.
Alban served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum, the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum, the XYZ Club and the Campbellsport Senior Citizens Club. Alban enjoyed playing cards and played a lot of them.
Those Alban leaves behind to cherish his memory include four daughters, Cathy (David) Schaefer, Linda (Richard) Yahr, Diane (Gerald) Schneider and Lori (Harry) Roecker all of Kewaskum; four brothers, David (Barbara) Nigh of Florida, Vincent “Babe” (Elvira) Nigh of Kewaskum, Leo (Esther) Nigh of Plymouth and Jerome “Jerry” (Beverly) Nigh of the town of Auburn; four sisters, Margaret Blanke of Plymouth, Marion (Jerry) Darmody of Allenton, Agnes Bird and Barbara (Dale) Timmler both of West Bend; nine grandchildren, Michael (Gail) Yahr, Beth (Bert) Falak, Julie (Chad) Wondra, Debbie (Craig) Martin, Mary (Paul) Reis, Joel Roecker (special friend, Marie), Tim Schneider (special friend, Jenny), Jenna (Brian) Wiederhold and Sandra (Thomas) Etzel; 11 great-grandchildren, Alayna, McKenna and Jaxon Falak, Andrea and Morgan Yahr, Ashlyn Roecker, Chase and Ireland Wondra, Hoyt Martin, Haileigh Wiederhold and Scarlett Reis; two sisters-in-law, Laura Nigh of West Bend and Anna Nigh of Kewaskum, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Alban was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Gregor Nigh; three brothers-in-law, Willard Blanke, Sylvester Harter and Virgil Bird and an infant sister, Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Alban was held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum with Father Edwin Kornath officiating.
Burial, with military graveside rites performed by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum, was at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
