Aletha J. Masbruch

January 15, 1930 — November 14, 2024

Aletha J. (Dearth) Masbruch, 94, of Kewaskum, WI, formerly of Platteville, WI was called home to be with the Lord on 11/14/24.

Aletha was born in Lafayette County, Wisconsin on January 15, 1930, to the late Lloyd and Thelma (Hodge) Dearth.

She graduated from Cuba City High School in 1948 and obtained her RN degree from Lutheran Deaconess School of Nursing in Chicago, IL.  After graduating, Aletha returned to southwest Wisconsin to have a fulfilling 46 year career in nursing. She worked at Hazel Green and Platteville Hospitals with the majority of her years spent at the Cuba City Doctor’s Clinic. She retired from the outpatient clinics at Grant Regional Medical Center in Lancaster.

On December 27, 1952, Aletha was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Masbruch.  Together they raised four wonderful children in Platteville. After Bob’s death in 2010, Aletha moved to Washington County Wisconsin to be closer to family. She loved her weekly lunch outings with Cinda or Michelle.

Aletha loved watching her Badger and Packer football teams.  She was a proud shareholder of the Green Bay Packers.  In addition to football, Aletha enjoyed maintaining her flower gardens, collecting Hummels, bird watching and researching the genealogy of the Dearth and Masbruch families.  She was a proud member of the Fort Crawford Daughters of the American Revolution and the Wisconsin Society of Mayflower Descendants.

Aletha valued her family, friendships and faith in God.  She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville, WI and later a member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Jackson, WI.

Aletha is survived by her children Randy (Laurie) Masbruch, Tom (Karen) Masbruch, Cinda (Blaine) Werner, Michelle (Bill) Schellpfeffer: grandchildren Jeff (Tammy), Jody, Jen (Jesse), Saskia (Jordan): great grandchildren Gracie, Lily, Alex, Tyler and Amy.  She is also survived by her sister Lenore Creuziger, sisters-in-law Margie Dearth and Marge Masbruch and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, siblings Wayne Dearth, Vayda French, Alta Creuziger, and brothers-in-law Don Masbruch, Dean Masbruch, Bill French, Fritz Creuziger and Bob Creuziger and sister-in-law Evey Masbruch.

Aletha always had a hug for friends and family.  Her care staff always looked forward to her hugs and she looked forward to giving them. Thank you to Kettle Moraine Gardens and Preceptor Hospice for the wonderful care!
