Alice Arndt

August 23, 1920 — June 4, 2012

Alice L. Arndt (formerly Alice Schubert), nee Soyk, 91, of Slinger, was received into the Lord's arms on Monday, June 4, 2012 at St. Luke Medical Center, Milwaukee.

She was born on August 23, 1920 in the town of Osceola to the late Albert and Louise (nee Viehstedt) Soyk. She married Richard Schubert on October 21, 1944 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Slinger. Richard passed away on May 7, 1975. Alice then married Herman Arndt on June 20, 1981 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Slinger. Herman passed away on April 25, 1994.

Alice was employed at Badger Lab in Jackson for many years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Slinger for 67 years. At the church she was active through out the years as a Sunday School teacher, in the Women's Fellowship, head of the Cradle Roll program, cooked Chili for more than 20 years, and also served as a greeter and usher.

Alice loved life. She had wonderful and beautiful gardens. She was an exceptional cook and baker. She loved getting together and playing cards with her friends. She especially liked the family picnics in the summers. In her spare time she would knit and crochet as well as sew clothing for Bee's Clothes for Needy Children. She also exercised at the Slinger Senior Center, three times a week, for over 30 years.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was proudest of her five grandsons and four great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two children, Judith (Kenneth) Wolf of Fox Lake, and Richard (Marlene) Schubert of Lomira; five grandsons, Daniel Wolf, Lee Schubert, Lynn Schubert, Kelly (Heather) Schubert, and Brad (Melissa) Schubert; four great-grandchildren, Amber Schubert, Anthony Schubert, Alexis Schubert, and Aiden Schubert; a sister, Myrtle Hassinger of West Bend; a brother, Norman Soyk of West Bend; her dearest cousin, Eugenia Malsack of Slinger; two step-children, Kenneth (Diane) Arndt of Waupun, and Barbara (James) Huck of Taycheedah and their families; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; a granddaughter, Michelle Schubert; a sister, Pearl (Carl) Backhaus; and four brothers, Melvin (Esther) Soyk, Orville (Lillian) Soyk, Almon (Lorraine) Soyk and Lyle Soyk; two brothers-in-law, Otto Fick and Walter Hassinger; a sister-in-law, Eugenia Soyk, and many other in-laws.

A funeral service in remembrance of Alice will be held on Thursday, June 7 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, 520 W. Washington St. (Hwy. 175 N.), Slinger. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Diefenbach Cemetery in the town of Polk on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
