Alice M. Bishop, 90, of Fond du Lac, formerly of Lomira, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.
She was born on February 20, 1920, in Lomira, the daughter of the late William and Magdalen (Schnurr) Beitz, and on February 13, 1954, she was united in marriage to Cornelius J. Bishop in El Paso, Illinois. Her husband preceded her in death on July 5, 1992.
Alice was a graduate of Lomira High School and the Milwaukee Stenotype Institute. She was employed at the Aetna Casualty and Surety Company in Milwaukee for 14 years, and later, along with her husband, was an agent for the Bishop Insurance Agency, which they owned and operated for many years.
Alice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira and the Christian Mother’s Society. She was a former member of the Independent Agents of Wisconsin and was a volunteer at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac and Hope Nursing Home in Lomira.
Those Alice leaves behind to cherish her memory include two children, Michael C. (Jane) Bishop of Kohler and Patricia A. (Donald) Michels of Fond du Lac; six grandchildren, Michelle (Ben) Peters, Nicole Bishop, Craig Bishop, Jessica (Shawn) Kneeland, Joshua Michels and Tyler Michels; a great-grandson, Jacob Peters, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was preceded in death by a sister, Marie (Walter) Bosky and a sister-in-law, Agnes (Florian) Hall.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Alice was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 699 Milwaukee Street in Lomira. Father Robert Fictum, Father Dennis Budka and Father Michael Ignaszak concelebrated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends called on Monday at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until a prayer service held at 9:45 a.m.
Memorials in her name may be directed to Hospice Hope of St. Agnes or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
