Alice S. Boyer

February 18, 1923 — September 22, 2014

Alice Hunnewell Boyer (nee Schwab), age 91, of West Bend, WI, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Serenity Villa in Slinger.

Alice was born on February 18, 1923, in Los Angeles, CA, to the late Paul Edward and Florence Emma (nee Hunnewell) Schwab and was raised in the newly created city of Beverly Hills and attended Marlborough High School. Alice graduated from UCLA in 1944, where she majored in English with a minor in bacteriology, also joining Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority in which she remained active throughout her life. Alice was united in marriage to Edward "Ned" Stiles Boyer on November 18, 1944. Together they raised their family in San Marino, Ca. In 1979, Alice and Ned moved to Denver, CO, as part of the transfer of Mobil Oil Headquarters, and many more life-long friendships were made. After Ned passed away in 1996, Alice moved to West Bend so she could spend more time with her family.

A smile that friends and family don't forget was part of Alice's social charm, along with skills in entertaining and cooking. She was active in the Junior League and church. A love of theater, art, a passion for travel, including visiting Swiss cousins, swimming in pools, body surfing in the ocean, and tennis were other social outlets. At home, she enjoyed knitting, reading, playing the piano, studying French, and her rose garden. Alice delighted in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, encouraging all of their dreams and triumphs.

Alice is survived by her four children, Darcy (Larry) Gill of West Bend, Edward "Ned" Boyer, Jr. of Pasadena, CA, Bruce (Helen) Boyer of Hanford, CA, and Carol Boyer of Seattle, WA; eight grandchildren, Andy (Jennifer) Gill of Seattle, WA, Brittany (Andrew Donaldson) Gill of Round Pond, ME, Peter (Katie McLinn) Gill of Montpelier, VT, Emily (Brian) Puerling of Chicago, IL, Maggie Gill of West Bend, Alex Gill of West Bend, John (Mary) Boyer of Houston, TX, and Peter (Hannah) Boyer of Reston, VA; four great-grandchildren, Lucinda Gill of Seattle, WA, Alice Donaldson of Round Pond, ME, Lydia Puerling of Chicago, IL, and James Boyer of Houston, TX; a brother, Paul (Shirley) Schwab, Jr. of La Jolla, CA; nieces and nephews, Paul (Meredith) Schwab III, Kathy (Ron Davidson) Schwab, Margo (Scott Johnson) Schwab, David Terlinden, and Don (Katy) Terlinden; Cousins, Chuck (Carolyn) Hunnewell, Ted (Carol) Hunnewell, and David (Judi) McCaughey; other relatives and many friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Florence; her husband, Edward; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ruth and Orville Stolt and Jane and Dean Terlinden.

A service is being planned in California for a later date.
