Allen "Al" Norem

Allen “Al” Norem, age 81 years, of Theresa went with the Lord to play the great game of Chess on February 23, 2023 at Aurora Medical Center of Washington County surrounded by his loving family.

Al was born on October 26, 1941 in Milwaukee to Endre and Hazel Norem  (Hartman).  He was united in marriage to Pauline L. Sandberg on September 14, 1963 in Milwaukee; they would have celebrated their 60 year Anniversary in September.

Al graduated from high school in West Allis.  He attended Concordia College in West Allis studying ministry.  Al worked at Briggs & Stratton in Milwaukee, he started as a Time Keeper and retired after 34 years as a Power Tester.  He was a long-time member of the Theresa Lions and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Mayville.

Al was an avid Chess player, including internet Chess.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, horse shows, and traveling.  He went on trips with Pauline to California and New Mexico.

Above all Al loved his wife, Pauline; brother-in-law, Gerald Sandberg; son, Eric (Heidie) Norem; granddaughters, Erika (the late Tom) Dahlen and Andrea (Eric) Nehrkorn; and great-grandchildren, Oliver and Avery Nehrkorn & Courtney and Tyler Dahlen.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene and Bernard Norem; sister, Inga Tietz; and their spouses.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 6:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church (16 S Walnut St. – Mayville, WI  53050) with Pastor Traci Maass officiating.  The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday at Church from 4:00 pm until the time of Service.  Private family urn burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin.
