Alois R. Rohlinger

Alois R. “Al” Rohlinger, 72, of Kewaskum, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2008, in hospice care at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.


He was born on January 16, 1936, in Kewaskum, the son of the late Leo and Johanna (Hall) Rohlinger, and on August 31, 1957, he was united in marriage to Janet Koenings at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Barton.


Al served his country in the Army Reserve National Guard and was employed by the Village of Kewaskum for 24 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum where he served as an usher for many years, and a member of the St. Joseph’s Society of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Barton. Al was a longtime member of the Kewaskum Fire Department retiring in 1983 and was one of the meticulous caretakers of the Model T fire truck. He enjoyed playing horseshoes and was an avid walker. Al touched the lives of many people and will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.


Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Janet; his daughter, Diane (Randy) Schickert of Kewaskum; his grandson, Benjamin Schickert; two brothers, Gregor “Crickets” (Beverly) Rohlinger and Norbert Rohlinger both of Kewaskum; three sisters, Rita Renner of West Bend, Mary (David) Ours of Campbellsport and Shirley Sarauer of Kewaskum; two brothers-in-law, Richard (Nancy) Koenings of West Bend and Charles (Judy) Koenings of Menomonee Falls; two sisters-in-law, Eileen (Robert) Moser of West Bend and Kathy (Neguta) Molla of Phoenix, Arizona, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many friends. Al was a special Papa to his great-niece and great-nephew, Hailey and Isaac Rohlinger. Sam, the dog, was a special companion to Al.


In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Christ and Elizabeth (Bahr) Koenings; an infant brother, Joseph; a sister-in-law, Darlene Rohlinger; four brothers-in-law, Ronald Sarauer, Bob Spaeth, Paul Koenings and Robert Renner; a niece, Michelle Ours and a nephew, Ed Renner.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Al was held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2008, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath and Father Mark Jones concelebrated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Monday in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends called at the church on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. The Kewaskum Fire Department retired and active members respectfully honored Al at 5:00 p.m.



Memorials to Holy Trinity Catholic School or Cedar Community Hospice were appreciated.
