Althea O. Kreif

Althea O. Kreif, nee Meuschke, 90, of West Bend, formerly of Fredonia, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Cedar Crossings Sub-Acute Care Center.

She was born on October 19, 1915 in the town of Farmington to the late William and Angela (nee Schoedel) Meuschke. She was united in marriage to Edwin A. Kreif on June 8, 1935 at the Fillmore Reformed Church. Her husband preceded her in death on July 26, 1995.

Althea was a long-time member of St. Paul's Community Church in Waubeka. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting afghans and especially Christmas Booties. She also loved to cook.

She is survived by four children, Edwin C. (Carol) Kreif of Fredonia, William Kreif of Fond du Lac, Frank (Patricia) Kreif of Fredonia, and George Kreif of San Diego, CA; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marion Winninghoff of West Bend; a son-in-law, George Sonnentag of Muskego; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Sonnentag, a great-grandson, Eric Kreif, and two sisters, Leola Possley and Eunice Larson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 25 at 11:30 a.m. at the Myrhum - Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Pastor Jim Engelmann will officiate and burial will follow in Fillmore Union Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
