Alton W. Rosenkranz, 81, of the town of Lomira, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011, at Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mayville.
He was born on September 1,1929, in Brownsville, the son of the late Escol and Olga (Bloch) Rosenkranz, and on November 21, 1959, he was united in marriage to Donna J. Kragh in Waupaca. Donna preceded Alton in death on December 14, 2007.
Alton was a 1947 graduate of Mayville High School and a 1951 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison earning a bachelor’s degree in agriculture economics. He had a passion for farming. He was a manager of the Farm Bureau Marketing Association in Madison for 19 years and was a member and served on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Apple Growers Association. Alton was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lomira.
Those Alton leaves behind to cherish his memory include four children, Dorothy (Gregory) Wood of Theresa, Tom Rosenkranz of Oshkosh, Craig Rosenkranz of Brownsville and William (Michelle) Rosenkranz of Fond du Lac; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Randi, Stevie, Dustin, Reagan, Cliff and Nina; a sister, Dorothy (Donald) Mosher of Fullerton, California; a sister-in-law, Sarah Rosenkranz of Mukwonago, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Alton was preceded in death by a son, David and a brother, Wilbur Rosenkranz.
Funeral services for Alton were held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 300 Church Street in Lomira. Rev. Kerry Wilson officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday in Emanuel Cemetery in the town of Lomira.
Relatives and friends called on Tuesday at the church from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services.
The Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira was entrusted with Alton’s arrangements.
