Amanda Clara Rathjen, 98, of Randolph, formerly of Kewaskum, went home to be with our heavenly father on Thursday, July 31, 2008.
She was born on November 18, 1909, in Fremont, the daughter of the late Fred and Helena (Fritz) Henschel, and on May 10, 1931, she was united in marriage to Otto Rathjen. Her husband preceded her in death in June 1966.
Amanda was employed by Regal Ware in Kewaskum for 35 years, retiring in 1985 at the age of 76. She was a member of the 25 Year Club and of Hope Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Her favorite pastime was dancing.
Survivors include five children, Fordyce (Joann) Rathjen of Cecil, Marilyn (Walt) Miller of La Quinta, California, Virginia Enderle of West Bend, Judy (A.D.) Staggs of Mc Kinney, Texas and Kathy (Orville) Lont of Randolph, 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Amanda was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and six half brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Amanda were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent Street in Fond du Lac. Rev. Arthur Callies officiated and burial followed in Rienzi Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
