Amelda C. "Millie" Mielkie

Amelda C. “Millie” Mielkie, 88, of St. Kilian, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010, at Cedar Lake Health Care Center in the town of West Bend.


She was born on November 23, 1921, in Theresa, the daughter of the late Joseph and Juliana (Zwirlein) Steger, and on November 16, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ralph Mielkie in Theresa. Ralph preceded Millie in death on October 17, 1966.


Millie was a member of St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian, and she was employed by Regal Ware, Inc. in Kewaskum for 17 years. Millie will fondly be remembered for the enjoyment she received from playing cards, crocheting, embroidering and listening to polka music on the radio. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her.


Those Millie leaves behind to cherish her memory include four children, Ervin (Darlene) Mielkie of St. Kilian, Bonnie (Darrel) Sabish, Richard (Kathleen) Mielkie and Ramona (Ronald Jr.) Dins all of Elmore; two sisters, Eileen Bonlender of Kewaskum and Pearl Keller of Fond du Lac; special friends, Ronald and Bonnie Bales of West Lafayette, Indiana; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.


In addition to her husband and parents, Millie was preceded in death by a son, Jerold “Jerry” Mielkie; four brothers, Jerome, Elmer, Herman and Stanley Steger; two sisters, Lorrinda Gindt and Ermma Loest, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Millie was held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at St. Kilian Catholic Church, N189 County Road W, Campbellsport (St. Kilian). Father Neil Zinthefer officiated and burial was at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends called at the church on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
