Andrea C. Barringer, age 32, of Milwaukee, formerly of West Bend, passed away Sunday August 11, 2013 as a result of injuries sustained after being struck by an automobile.
She was born on June 29, 1981 in Portsmouth, VA to Robin and Barbara (nee Gerhardt) Barringer. Andrea was raised in West Bend and graduated from West Bend West High School in the class of 1999. She then attended UWWC in West Bend and earned a two year associate degree. Andrea continued her studies at UW-Milwaukee graduating in 2006 with a major in Sociology. She moved to Austin, TX for three years and Minneapolis, MN for two years, supporting herself as a social worker. In 2012 Andrea moved back to Milwaukee to attend graduate school at Mt. Mary College working toward a masters in Art Therapy. While at Mt. Mary she also did work study and internships at St. Luke's Hospital and Project Q.
Andrea enjoyed all kinds of art, including painting, drawing, and collages. She also enjoyed biking, swimming, yoga, reading, gardening, and making people laugh. Andrea had a boundless, generous soul and volunteered wherever she lived, especially helping people with disabilities. She also helped start the community garden in Austin.
Andrea will be deeply missed by her mother, Barbara (Michael) Tyree of West Bend; her brother, Craig Barringer of Madison; fiancAC., Eric Schoen of Milwaukee; two step-brothers, Paul Tyree of Milwaukee, and Josh Tyree of Cedarburg; maternal grandfather, Richard Gerhardt of West Bend; paternal grandmother, Bonnie Anderson of Hudson; very special aunt and uncle, Wendy (Jeff) Barringer-Bucklew of Hudson, and Barth Anderson of Minneapolis, MN; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robin Barringer in 2005, grandmother, Mavis Gerhardt, and grandfather, Jack Anderson.
A gathering to share memories and celebrate Andrea's life will take place on Saturday, August 17th from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend, with a short service of remembrance to follow.
