Andrew P. Heltemes, age 74, of West Bend, passed away Thursday January 27, 2005 at his residence.
He was born on September 11, 1930 in Bluffton, MN to the late Mathias and Frances (nee Vorderbruggen) Heltemes. After his schooling he farmed on the family farm in Wadena, MN until 1952, at which time he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea. After the service he moved to the Campbellsport area and started employment at the Gehl Company in West Bend. On October 8, 1960 he was united in marriage to Susan Bird in Fond du Lac, and together they moved to West Bend.
Andy was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, and the Gehl Company Hexelbank Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards "poker", and staying up north at the lake. He had many bird feeders in his yard and enjoyed the many various varieties they attracted.
He is survived by his wife Susan; two sons, Scott (Lisa) Heltemes of Campbellsport, and Todd Heltemes of Milwaukee; two granddaughters, Samantha and Madeline; a sister Marian (Walter) Brockpahler of Wadena, MN; three brothers, Walter (Isabelle) of Wadena, MN, Ervin (Joanne) of Cudahy, and Mathias (Mary) of Galena, MO; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Heltemes and Irene Kopischke, and five brothers, Joseph, Leonard, Jerome, Arthur, and Louie.
Funeral services for Andy will be held on Sunday January 30th at 7:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. Jeffrey Haines of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park on Monday at 10:00 am.
