Andrew J. Rinzel, 95, of Lomira, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2014, at his home.
He was born on October 4, 1918, in the town of Auburn, the son of the late Hubert and Louisa (Rauen) Rinzel, and on August 23, 1944, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Becker. The couple farmed in the Germantown area for many years before moving to Lomira.
Andrew was a member of the Germantown Fire Department, the Knights of Columbus Council 4240 in Menomonee Falls, a member of the Lomira Lions Club and of St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy.
Those Andrew leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 69 years, Evelyn; three children, David (Anne) Rinzel of Lomira, Lois (Kenneth) Millikin of Hubertus and Janet Rinzel of Lomira; three granddaughters, Neela Rinzel (fiance, Joseph Erwin), Tia and Faith Rinzel, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Rinzel; an infant brother, Gregor; six additional brothers, Arthur (Marie), Lawrence (Florence), Myron, Roland, Gregor and Benedict (Leona) Rinzel; three sisters, Veronica (Arthur) Fellenz, Rosalia (Frank) App and Lorraine Traut Harms and two brothers-in-law, Leo Traut and August Harms.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy. Father Tom Biersack and Father Jerome Rinzel concelebrated burial was in St. Matthias Catholic Cemetery in the town of Auburn.
The Rinzel family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials to St. Andrew Catholic Church or St. Matthias Chapel in the town of Auburn are appreciated.
