Anita Vogelsang

September 13, 1918 — April 7, 2012

Anita M. Vogelsang, nee Schneider, age 93, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Kathy Hospice in the Town of Polk.

She was born on September 13, 1918, in Farmington near St. Michael's to the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (nee Bendel) Schneider. Anita grew up on the family farm. She attended St. Michael's grade school and developed into a young woman during the Great Depression, from which she learned the value of hard work and thrift.

She was devoted to her family and to her faith. Anita has been a member of St. Mary's Parish since she became a young bride in 1941 when she married Frank Vogelsang at St. Michael's. She belonged to the Christian Mothers and Altar Society for many years and is a former member of the parish choir.

Anita worked as a dietician and cook for St. Joseph's Hospital for twenty years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing. In her later years she was especially glad for the radio broadcast of the rosary from St. Kilian Parish in Hartford.

Anita is survived by her son, Donald (Sandra Szanderek) Vogelsang of Milwaukee; six grandchildren, Rick Vogelsang of Scottsdale, AZ, Jeff Vogelsang of Oconto, Leah Vogelsang of Houston, TX, Janine Brunia of Waukesha, Marisue Kristina of Milwaukee, and Brian Pickel of Butler; 13 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Diane Lorenz of West Bend; sisters-in-law, Rose Vogelsang of West Bend and Arlene Schneider of Kewaskum, special friends, Mary Herrick of West Bend and Julie Dagelen-Vogelsang of Waukesha; other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank in 1992; sons, Robert in 1979, Ralph in 2006, and Paul in 2008; two sisters, Cresence Thull and Angeline Zacho; and two brothers, Lester and Edward Schneider.

A Mass of Christian burial in remembrance of Anita will be held on Wednesday, April 11th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1610 Monroe Street-West Bend, with burial to follow in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street-West Bend, and again on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the mass.

Memorials to St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Parish are appreciated by the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Muhammed Mian, the staff of Cedar Lake Health & Rehabilitation Center, Midwest Nephrology Association, Aurora Medical Center of Hartford, and the Kathy Hospice.
