Anna Mae Thoresen, (nee Williams), age 85, of Cedar Bay West in the Town of West Bend, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Synergy Health's St. Joseph's Hospital in the Town of Polk.
She was born on October 5, 1920 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to the late Will and Mary (nee Samson) Williams. Anna Mae graduated from Dodgeville High School and Shortly afterwards lost her vision due to a brain tumor. She moved to Milwaukee where she became a typist and also did some public speaking, which was how she met her future husband. She was united in marriage to Verner W. Thoresen on September 29, 1951 in Dodgeville. They spent 53 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2003. In October of 2002, just before her husband's death, Anna Mae became a resident of Cedar Bay West. She was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend; and enjoyed many other social activities.
Anna Mae is survived by her two children, Kay (Jon) Kauth of West Bend, and Walt (Becky) Thoresen of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren, Tyler and Marty Thoresen of Minneapolis, MN, and Katie and Emily Kauth of West Bend; two step-grandchildren, Shelly (Jerry) Schwartz of Minneapolis MN, and Amy Best of Minneapolis, MN; four great-grandchildren; a sister Phoebe Hanson of Dodgeville; a sister-in-law Dorothy Thoresen of Port Charlotte, FL; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
A memorial service in celebration of Anna Mae's life will be held on Monday, April 10, 2006, at 3:00 pm, at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend. Visitation with the family will be in the church Sanctuary on Monday from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm. Burial will take place in Eastside Cemetery in Dodgeville. Memorials to Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church or to the West Bend Library Outreach Program would be appreciated by the family.
