Anthony "Tony" Pocian

June 30, 1950 — January 29, 2025

West Bend

Anthony “Tony” Pocian, age 74 years, of West Bend was called home to be with the Lord on January 29, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Tony was born on June 30, 1950, in Milwaukee to the late Anthony and Dorothy Pocian (Pietrowiak). He graduated from West Bend High School in 1969.

Early in his career, Tony worked at Briggs and Stratton as a fork truck driver. However, he had an entrepreneurial spirit. He purchased and operated his own semi-truck for several years after leaving Briggs. He also started roofing and home improvement companies with his brothers throughout the years. Tony was a jack of all trades. He could build and fix anything. He solved problems like a real-life MacGyver. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and teaching anyone willing to learn. Tony was a master of road trip navigation and route planning (before GPS). He was always there to help family, friends and even strangers.

He valued family above all. Tony’s pride and joy were his kids. He instilled his sense of adventure with many road trips around the US. He taught them to work hard and helped them using every problem-solving skill he possessed. He enjoyed the title of “snowbird” for a few years, spending time in Arizona with his youngest daughter.

Even though Tony started his own family in 1970, he always gravitated toward home. He spent most weekends back then at his parents’ farm where his siblings and their families also visited: playing games, making food and memories. Nieces and nephews remember motorcycle rides with Uncle Tony and his signature dish, dumplings and cheese.

One of Tony’s favorite hobbies, besides working, was taking trips to the casino. Blackjack was his game. Saturday morning breakfast at the restaurant, cribbage and card games with his brothers and sisters. Watching old westerns was also a favorite pastime.

Those Tony leaves behind to cherish his memory include his daughters, Tammy and Tonya Pocian, Amy (Jesus) Roman. Stepsons, Josh (Jen) Junghans and Casey (Katie) Moore. Grandchildren, Jonathan (Katie) and Alec (Amy) Kumrow, Megan (Tony) Leitheiser, Jacob (Sarah) and Anthony (Lexi) Allen, Ryan Petts, Joseph, Julie & Makenzie Baumhardt, and Nolan Worby. Significant other, Susan Simonson. Brothers, Gary (Sharon) and Duane (Betty) Pocian; Sisters, Janice (Jerry) Depies and Corrine Pocian; and Sister-in-law Jean Pocian. He is further survived by nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack, Dennis (Sherry), and Terry Pocian; sisters, Joyce (Dave) Kollmansberger, Marlene (Steve) Wydick, and Kathy (Ray) Upson; and cherished companion, Linda Junghans.
