Arlene was a 1943 graduate of Mayville High School and graduated from the Dodge County Normal School in 1945. She taught for a couple years at Rock Ledge School near the Horicon Marsh and two years at the Lomira Grade School. She left teaching to help her brother, Rueben, and her aging parents on the farm. She enjoyed going to the Fireside Dinner Theater where Arlene and Lester had season tickets for 17 years, and she especially enjoyed the wonderful Fireside dining.
Those Arlene leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 57 years, Lester; three daughters, Vickie (Boris Pritychenko) Unferth of LaCrosse, Julie (Jeff) Richter of Waukesha and Debra Unferth of Bay Side; three grandchildren, Craig, Kelsi and Carly Richter; two sisters, Lois Marquardt of Ripon and Eunice Frisbie of Beaver Dam, other relatives and friends.
