Arnold J. Schladweiler

Arnold J. Schladweiler, 92, of the town of Farmington, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at The Lighthouse of West Bend.

He was born on January 7, 1921, in the town of Farmington, the son of the late Jacob P. and Elizabeth (Schneider) Schladweiler, and on May 23, 1942, he was united in marriage to Mary Riley in St. Louis, Missouri. Mary preceded Arnold in death on July 8, 1989.

Arnold proudly served his country in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was employed by Gehl Company in West Bend, retiring April 1, 1986, following 41 years of service.  Arnold was a member of the Hexelbank Club and of St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Michaels.

Those Arnold leaves behind to cherish his memory include four children, Daniel (Carol) Schladweiler and Robert (Geri) Schladweiler both of West Bend, Patricia (Larry) Beal of Random Lake and Nancy (Larry) Krahn of Kewaskum; two sisters, Ione Kohlman of West Bend and Estelle Matenaer of the town of Farmington; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Schladweiler of the town of Farmington and Corrine Schladweiler of Escondido, California, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Arnold was preceded in death by three brothers, LeRoy, Clemens and Al (Naomi) Schladweiler; five sisters, Mildred (Edgar) Wolf, Bernice (Ed) VanBeek, Marcella (Peter) Schmidt, Viola (Clarence) Schoenbeck and Delores (John) VanBeek and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Matenaer and Harold Kohlman.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Arnold was held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Michaels with Father Edwin Kornath officiating. Military honor rites by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum followed Mass, and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Monday in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends called at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.

Memorials to the charity of one's choice were appreciated.

The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Arnold's arrangements.
