Audrey L. Stier (Nee Herbrand), age 78, of West Bend, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls.
She was born on April 12, 1931 in Waukesha to the late Edward and Edna (nee Halwas) Herbrand. On June 25, 1955 Audrey was united in marriage to Paul "Butch" Stier at St. Luke's Church in Waukesha.
She loved American Water Spaniels and had seven of them as pets throughout the years. Audrey enjoyed traveling and loved going to Ignace, Ontario, Canada. She and Butch traveled to Ignance every year since 1961 and in 1988 they began spending their summers there. She enjoyed fishing. She also enjoyed knitting sweaters and afghans. Audrey had a great love and support for her grandchildren. She would go to any length to see them ski race or surf, play softball, listen to a band concert or watch a play.
Audrey was a very faithful servant of Christ. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend for many years. She was currently a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum.
She is survived by three children, Rev. Sharon Stier of West Bend, Kenneth (Julie) Stier of Wind Lake, and Laurie (Ron) O'Farrell of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren, Natalie and Kylie Stier, Ryan, Donovan, and Caitlin O'Farrell; two brothers, George (Norma) Herbrand and Warren Herbrand, both of Waukesha; a sister-in-law, Nancy (George) Kraemer of West Bend; other dear relatives and close friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Butch; infant daughter, Linda: sister-in-law, Shirley Ackerman, and brother-in-law, Earl Stier.
Funeral services in remembrance of Audrey will be held on Thursday, June 4th at 7:00 p.m. at Peace United Church of Christ (343 First St., Kewaskum) with Rev. Eric Kirkegaard officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, on Friday, June 5th at 10:00 a.m.
Memorials to Habitat for Humanity of Washington County or Peace United Church of Christ are appreciated.
