Barbara L. Achterberg, (nee Schaefer), age 69, of Horicon, formerly of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at her residence.
She was born on December 16, 1939 in Oconto, WI to the late Oscar and Christine (nee Krumpos) Schaefer. On June 16, 1962, Barbara was united in marriage to Donald Achterberg at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend. Donald preceded her in death on February 18, 1991.
Barbara worked at Serigraph for 10 years in the Finishing Department. She was an avid member of the Silver Stampers Club and the Red Hatters Society. Barbara enjoyed traveling and going on trips with tour groups. She was a member of Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church where Rev. Joseph Fisher and Rev. Christopher Raffa served as her pastor.
She is survived by her two children, Timm (Missy) Achterberg of Horicon and Todd Achterberg of West Bend; one brother, Joseph Schaefer of Ephrata, WA; other relatives and many friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald.
A memorial service in remembrance of Barbara will be held on Wednesday, October 21st at 6:00 pm at the Myrhum~Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington Street) West Bend with Rev. Joseph Fisher officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place in Washington County Memorial Park.
Cremation took place at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service.
