Barbara J. Kojis, (nee Hegner) age 74, of West Bend, passed away Friday March 2, 2012 at The Kathy Hospice, West Bend.

She was born on April 2, 1937 in Greendale to the late John T. and Evelyn (nee Caan) Hegner. She graduated from Pius XI High School in the class of '55.

On June 22, 1957 Barb was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Andrew "Bud" Kojis at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Greendale. Together they made their home in West Allis, and Barb spent her time raising the children and volunteering.

In 1975 Barb became employed at Target as their retail district secretary. Barbara and Bud moved to West Bend in 1995.

Volunteering was a big part of Barbra's life. At school when her girls were young, as a girl scout leader for over 25 years, for meals on wheels, at St. Joseph's Hospital Gift Shop, at the West Bend Library, to name a few. She also enjoyed reading, and working on crossword puzzles everyday. Barb was known as "Mom" to all who knew her.

Loving and best mother of four daughters, Kathi Kusch of West Bend, Nancy (Walter) Turk of West Bend, Susan (Michael) Rossa of West Bend, and Mary (Gregory) Schmidt of West Allis; nine grandchildren, Andrew Kusch, Ryan Kusch, Chelsea Turk, Amber Turk, Kyle Turk, Kevin Schmidt, Jenny Schmidt, Aaron Schmidt, and Amy Schmidt; a sister-in-law, Marge Mundigler of Shawano; other relatives and many friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her loving husband Bud in 2001; a brother, John T. Hegner Jr.; along with a brother-in-law, Wayne Mundigler.

A Mass of Christian Burial in remembrance of Barbara will be held on Thursday March 8th at 4:00 pm at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church (1025 S. 7th Ave.) West Bend. Rev. Nathan Reesman will be the presider. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 2:00 pm until the time of Mass. Burial will be in St. Matthias Cemetery in West Allis on Friday at 11:00 am.

Memorials to The Kathy Hospice are appreciated by the family.
