Bernard Kohler

Bernard H. Kohler, age 75, of the town of Trenton, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital in the town of Polk.

He was born on September 14, 1935 in West Bend to the late Raymond and Emily (nee Schmidt) Kohler. On September 5, 1970 Bernie was united in marriage to Susan Polzin at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg. Bernie was employed as a Maintenance Mechanic for Airsan Corporation in Milwaukee for many years until his retirement. He was also a former volunteer firefighter for the village of Newburg. Bernie enjoyed the great outdoors. He loved camping, riding his motorcycle, fishing, and shooting trap. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg, the West Bend Moose Lodge, the Vagabenders camping club in West Bend, and was a former member of the Newburg Sportsman Club in Newburg.

Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Susan; his brothers, George Kohler of West Bend, and Roman (Susan) Kohler of Denver, CO; his mother-in-law, Jeanette Polzin of West Bend, his sister-in-law Diane (Bill) Anderson of Dunbar, WI; and his brothers-in-law, Alfred (Patty) Polzin of Pembine, WI, and Allen (Marilyn) Polzin of Kerrville, TX. His is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Alfred H. Polzin; and his sister in law, Marge Kohler.

Funeral services in remembrance of Bernard will be Saturday, January 22nd at 5:00 p.m. at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, West Bend. Rev. Guy Gurath will preside. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
