Bernice C. Ramthun, 92, of Kewaskum, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk with her family at her side.
She was born on August 30, 1919, in the town of Scott, the daughter of the late Henry and Clara (Laubach) Hicken, and on September 2, 1939, she was united in marriage to Elmer Ramthun in Kewaskum. Elmer preceded Bernice in death on April 9, 1974.
Bernice was a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum and the Altar Guild. Bernice enjoyed reading, sewing, word find and gardening. Her family was very precious to her and she loved spending time with them.
Those Bernice leaves behind to cherish her memory include four children, Elmer Ramthun (special friend, Dee) of Madison, Judy (Bill) Heberer of Waupaca, Jim (Micki) Ramthun of Campbellsport and Gary (Cindy) Ramthun of The Villages, Florida; a brother-in-law, Harry Ramthun of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Verne Petermann of Campbellsport; six grandchildren, Debbie Murphy, Bill (Julie) Heberer, Pam Tanke (special friend, Tim Gattenby), Rick (Darcie) Heberer, Gina (Phil) Younk and Jim Ramthun; ten great-grandchildren, Collin and Taylor Murphy, Zachary, Jacob, Nathan, Ben and Ellie Heberer, Alex Tanke, Alicia and Joshua Younk, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Bernice was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll (Mathilda) Hicken; three brothers-in-law, Otto (Kathryn) Ramthun, Wilmer “Bill” Ramthun and Ervin “Chesty” (Deane) Ramthun; two sisters-in-law, Violet (William) Edwards and Delores (Elwyn) Ebert.
Funeral services for Bernice were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1417 Parkview Drive in Kewaskum. Rev. Timothy Henning officiated and burial followed in the Lutheran Memorial Park in Kewaskum.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services.
