Bernice H. Sterr (nee Burgert), 94, of Lomira, was called home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
She was born on December 1, 1923, in Lomira, the daughter of the late Henry P. and Barbara (nee Miller) Burgert. On February 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to Roger E. Sterr at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa. Married on Valentine’s Day, Bernice and Roger enjoyed a love affair marriage for 66 years, until his passing in 2012. Together they enjoyed traveling and visited every state in the union. During their travels, they made many friends.
Bernice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira and a member of Bintzler-Waehler American Legion Auxiliary Lomira, where she was a chaplain for many years. She worked as a waitress at the Legion for many years, and looked forward to serving the Lion’s Club. Bernice enjoyed volunteer work and was a care giver to members of the family for many years.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends; and always looked forward to her weekly dining at Schreiner’s in Fond du Lac for her quiche and muffin. She’ll be missed by all who knew her.
Those Bernice leaves behind to cherish her memory include very special nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors, and special friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger; a sister, Ruth (Herb) Schmitt; and a brother, Lester (Beverly) Burgert.
