Bernice A. Groh

Bernice A. Groh, 92, of Menomonee Falls, formerly of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Silverado in Menomonee Falls.

She was born on January 1, 1922, in the town of Barton, the daughter of the late Jacob and Mathilda (Dricken) Van Beek, and on September 4, 1943, she was united in marriage to Vincent Groh at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Allenton . Vincent preceded Bernice in death on December 24, 1989.

Bernice was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was a past member of Holy Trinity Ladies group and the Kewaskum Women's Club, holding offices in both groups.

Bernice loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was known for her green thumb in growing not only house plants but also having a fruitful garden. She enjoyed crocheting and smocking, earning a ribbon at the Wisconsin State Fair. Baking treats, especially with yeast, was her specialty.

Those Bernice leaves behind to cherish her memory include three children, Richard Groh of Chicago, Illinois, Karen (Bob) Kuehl of Granite Falls, North Carolina and Joan (Bill) Suetholz of Menomonee Falls; 11 grandchildren, Anne (David) Rigsby of Georgia, Jen (Phil) Groh-Allen of Chicago, Illinois, Kate (Gene) Curkovic of Portage, Michigan, Krista (Luke) Conley of Hickory, North Carolina, Tom(Janet) Groh of Chicago, Illinois, Abby (Matt) Schwarz of Bartlett, Illinois, Rob (Natasha) Kuehl of Stanley, North Carolina, Emily, Natalie, Chloe and Andrew Suetholz of Menomonee Falls; 17 great grandchildren, Wayne, Chase, Savannah, Chandler and Chaney Rigsby, Ella, Luci and Joey Curkovic, Ian and Owen Conley, Olivia and Edward Groh, Sydnie, Avery, Charlie and Luke Schwarz; a brother-in-law, Stan Konstanz of Madison; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Van Beek of West Bend and Rita Rainwater of New Mexico; a dear cousin, Rosemary Fickert of West Bend, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her brother, Leonard Van Beek; two brothers-in-law, Mattias Groh and Norbert Groh and two sisters-in-law, Betty Smith and Mary Konstanz.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice was held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.

Bernice's family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Memorials to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Seasons Hospice are appreciated.

The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Bernice's arrangements.
