Betty Ellen Doede, nee Lallathin, age 80, of West Bend, passed away on, Tuesday, September 25, 2012 surrounded by family at the Kathy Hospice in the Town of Polk.
Betty was born on March 31, 1932, in Edgar, WI, to the late John and Esther (nee Petri) Lallathin. She enjoyed playing the drums in her high school band, was the President of the student council and was also a cheerleader. Betty married her high school sweetheart, Richard Doede on June 14, 1952. Together they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past June.
Betty loved to stay active by camping, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors. She loved to cook and entertain. Betty also enjoyed making wreaths, wedding cakes, knitting, crocheting, and embroidering. Above all Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was very active in Trinity Lutheran Church, Meals on Wheels and caregiver for Kettle Moraine Hospice.
Betty is survived by her husband, Richard, of West Bend; her two children, David (Lee) Doede and Mary (John) Montag; grandchildren, Chad (Kelly), Craig (Jennifer), Cole, Amber (Dave), Joshua (Kelly), and Christopher Miller (Kaitlin); step grandchildren: Amanda (John) Puls, Joshua Montag and Maggie Montag, great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Morgan, Lucas, Leyton, and Chase; step great-grandchildren, Jack, Charlie and Theo; brother-in-law, Elgart Mueller; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel W. Doede; parents; parents-in-law, William and Jewell Doede; two sisters, Shirley (Robert) Bauman and Eleanor Mueller; and special friends, Dan and Peggy Danecki.
A memorial service in remembrance of Betty will be held on Sunday, September 30 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 140 S. 7th Avenue, West Bend. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Merrill, WI at a later date.
Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, The Kathy Hospice, or the Alzheimer's Association are greatly appreciated by the family.
