Betty L. Glennon, nee Pries, 79, of West Bend, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital, West Bend.
She was born on May 19, 1929 to the late Albert and Florence (nee Capelle) Pries on the family homestead farm near Medford. On September 1, 1951 Betty was united in marriage to George W. Glennon. George passed away on January 31, 1996.
Betty earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from UW-Milwaukee and later earned her Master's Degree from Purdue University. She taught elementary school in the Elmbrook School District for many years and she also edited books for Golden Books. After retiring, Betty moved to West Bend in 1987.
Betty was an active member of Immanuel United Church in West Bend. She was also an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity of Washington County and the Lac Lawrann Conservancy. Her family, her church, and teaching were the loves of Betty's life.
Betty is survived by five children, George "Mike" (Diane) Glennon of Helenville, Patti (John) Warzyn of Menomonee Falls, Dave (Maureen) Glennon of Neenah, Patty (Ken) Peck of Cudahy, and Candi (Frank) Dankert of Menomonee Falls; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn (Ralph) Rundman of Ishpeming, Michigan; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Barbara Wagner.
A funeral service in remembrance of Betty will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 5:00 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 501 Walnut St., West Bend, with Rev. Rich Vincent officiating. Cremation will follow with inurnment in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Milwaukee. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
