Beverly "Bev" Bellehumeur

It is with great joy and sadness that we say goodbye to Beverly Bellehumeur, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to so many whose lives she touched.

Beverly “Bev” Bellehumeur (Kraft), went to Heaven on October 27, 2023 at the age of 95 years.  Welcoming her to Heaven is our Lord Jesus Christ, and also the love of her life Jack Bellehumeur.

Bev was born on August 2, 1928 in Milwaukee to Raymond and Gerda Kraft (Raasch).  She was united in marriage to Jack Bellehumeur on October 5, 1947 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

Bev lived life to the fullest, always had a smile that could light up a room and was always willing to lend an ear and make you feel loved while deep in conversion.  She was a devoted Catholic and never intentionally missed a church mass. She was a member at Holy Angels Parish in West Bend and would bring communion to those who were unable to get to church, she was a true giver and servant of God.

She loved her husband Jack, together and with her family they were always on the go.  Auctions, family ski trips, family camping trips, romantic getaways, vacations to Europe, and just being with the love of her life and her family. Bev never bragged about her accomplishments, but she was especially proud of her 7 children, 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.  You’d often see her floating on a pontoon with them on Big Cedar Lake or walking the Florida beach then sitting in a lanai reading a book and sipping wine or creating wonderful specialties for family parties and celebrations. She also didn’t mind a fresh gin martini before a Friday night fish fry!

Bev was an avid skier and proud to be a member of the Heiliger Huegel “Over the Hill” Ski Club, she loved to play bridge and worked for years at Larry’s Brown Deer Market and The Green Frog in Hartford, creating delicious hors d’oeuvre’s and beautiful, delectable desserts.

Bev Bellehumeur was a culinary scientist; she could sample anything and tell you the ingredients! Bev also volunteered at the West Bend Senior Center and would lend a hand to those that couldn’t drive, taking them to doctor appointments, the grocery store, the post office, the bank; anything they needed. Bev loved animals, and literally would not hurt a flea! She donated empty peanut butter jars to the Washington County Humane society for the dogs there.

She never spoke a harsh word or complained.  She loved to laugh and smile.  She was selfless and was always there if you needed her. We recently found the heartfelt words of wisdom in a note she wrote to her children. We will cherish these words forever and miss her will all our hearts.

“I do not want you to be sad when I go.  I love you dearly, but I hope to see your Dad again and we can watch together as you live your lives as we hoped you would to make us proud.  God loves each one of you.  ~MOM”

Bev Bellehumeur was one of a kind, the precious matriarch, the centerpiece of her family, the one who taught us how to love and care for another, you were a light to all who knew you.

The kindest of souls that brought so much comfort to your family, and all that were lucky enough to spend time with.  Yours was the biggest and warmest heart of pure gold and your family will love you forever.

Those Bev leaves behind to cherish her memory include her five daughters, Sarah Bellehumeur, Mary Jo (Jerry) Yafchak, Bonnie Blink (Scott), Susan Bellehumeur (Dave), and Amy Bellehumeur (Terry);

grandchildren, Emily, Noah, Brian, Therese (Ali), Matt, Abby, Adam (Lisa), John (Norma), Tim (Casey), Adam, Bobbi, Benjamin, Andrew (Kathleen), Charles (Krista), Christopher (Roxanne), Autumn (Phillip);

great-grandchildren, Reanna, Kaelyn, Elizabeth, Courtney, Daniel, James, Gabriella, Kinsley, Nadia, Ariel, Ruby, Simon, Drew, Cole, Jenna, John, Madelyn, Christopher, Wesley, Charlotte, Miles, Courtney; three great-great grandchildren, Piper, Ollie, and Hunter; and sisters-in-law, Susan Bellehumeur and Krissy Kraft.

She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Bev was preceded in death by her husband, John Bellehumeur; two sons, David and Peter Bellehumeur; brother, Jerry Kraft; brother-in-law, Dr. Gerald Bellehumeur; and granddaughter, Heidi.

VISITATION:  Bev’s family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 3:30 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church (138 N. 8th Ave., West Bend – 53095).

SERVICE:  A Memorial Mass in remembrance of Bev will take place following the visitation at the church, beginning at 5:00 p.m., with Fr. Howard Haase celebrating the Mass. A private family inurnment will take place at St. Catherine Cemetery in Milwaukee.

Memorials in Bev’s name can be directed to the Washington County Humane Society.
