Brenda "Stewy" Epping, nee Steffes, age 50 of West Bend died early Sunday morning, May 20, 2012 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
She was born June 11, 1961 daughter of David and Kathleen Steffes of Plymouth, WI. On March 4, 1989 she married Ron Epping at St. John the Baptist in Plymouth. They have resided in the township of Farmington since 1990.
She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1979. She attended the University of Oshkosh and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing in 1983. She worked in the ICU at Plymouth Hospital until 1989 and then the ICU at St. Joseph's Hospital in West Bend until 2001. She continued her education and received her Master's Degree in Nursing in 2001. Since then she has worked at the Froedtert West Bend Clinic as a Nurse Practitioner in the Urology department.
Brenda was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing softball and golf. She also loved working in her many beautiful flower beds and the family garden. One of Ron and Brenda's favorite pastimes was sitting around the bonfire with family and friends. Another passion of theirs was spending time with their close friends in the Kettle Moraine Corvette Club.
Survivors include her loving husband, Ron; her parents, David and Kathy Steffes of Plymouth; brothers, John (Mary) Steffes of Glenbeulah, Brian (Janice) Steffes of DePere, and Jim (Michele) Steffes of Plymouth. Brenda is also survived by a sister-in-law, Gail (Peter) Epping Overholt; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Mary) Epping of Kenosha, Dave (Janet) Epping of Kenosha, Jeff (Kathy) Epping of Madison, Dean (Jane) Epping of Mount Horeb, and Dennis (Donna) Epping of Luray, VA. Aunt Stewy is further survived by 22 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother-in- law, Lee and Jackie Epping and her godmother, Darlene Steffes.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be given to charities to benefit cancer care and treatment.
A Mass of Christian burial in remembrance of Brenda will be held on Friday, May 25th at 11:30 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Michael's. Visitation will be Thursday at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, West Bend from 4:30 pm until a Prayer Vigil at 8:00pm and again Friday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 am until closing of the casket prayers at 10:45 am.
Brenda's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mueller, Dr. Siker, Dr. Connelly, and Dr. Herdrich of Froedtert Medical Group. They would also like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at the Kathy Hospice Center in West Bend for their compassionate care and the many friends, neighbors and co-workers who supported Brenda throughout her illness.
