Bruno A. Luethy

July 9, 1914 — June 12, 2012

Bruno A. Luethy, 97, of South Byron, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at his home.

He was born on July 9, 1914, in Fond du Lac County, the son of the late Hans and Paula (Draheim) Luethy. Bruno was a 1932 graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc and attended the University of Wisconsin Madison Dairy School. On October 5, 1940, he was united in marriage to Virginia Lerch in the town of Byron.

Bruno was employed by Damrow Brothers Company in Fond du Lac retiring in 1979, and was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownsville.

Bruno will fondly be remembered for his sharp wit and dry sense of humor. He would often say, “You’re a long time married and a long time dead.” He enjoyed spending time at the lake cottage throughout his years with family and friends and remained active in his retirement. He took up bowling late in his retirement and bowled on several leagues until age 95.

Those Bruno leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 71 years, Virginia; two children, Barbara (Tom) Merriam of Oshkosh and Gregg Luethy (fiancee, Penelope) of Fond du Lac; six granddaughters, Nicole (Ed) Kujawa, Kathryn Merriam, Angela (Mark) Buchman, Gretchen Luethy, Sara (Shaun) Andersen and Alyssa Luethy; five great-grandchildren, Dan and Elleanna Kujawa, Ethan and Isaac Buchman and Kira Andersen, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bruno was preceded in death by a sister, Mirnabell Luethy.

Funeral services for Bruno were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownsville. Rev. William Carter officiated and burial was in Rienzi Cemetery in Fond du Lac.

Relatives and friends called on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.

The Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira was entrusted with Bruno’s arrangements.

We wish to express our deep appreciation to the Heartland Hospice nurses who made Dad comfortable in his last hours, as well as the caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care for their loving care and kindness. They have made it possible for Mom and Dad to remain in their home for his last years.
