Carl H. “Charlie” Degnitz, 65, of Fillmore, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at his home.
Carl was born on January 26, 1956, in West Bend, the son of the late Merlin and Marjorie (nee Laatsch) Degnitz. On April 2, 1977, he was united in marriage to Judy Boettcher at St. Martin’s United Church of Christ in Fillmore.
Carl worked side by side with his father on the family farm and at Degnitz Bus Company that his father started in 1963. He enjoyed farming, snowmobiling, and water fighting on the fire department. Carl most enjoyed sharing stories and shaking dice around the kitchen table with family and friends. Carl was member of the Fillmore Fire Department for many years and was also a member of the Fillmore Turners. He enjoyed giving “guidance” to the younger generation.
Those Carl leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Judy; three children, Christopher (Rosie) Degnitz, Casey Degnitz, and Charlie Degnitz; three grandchildren, Amanda, Kayla, and Rebecca Degnitz; a great-granddaughter, Annabelle; three sisters, Mary Carol (Robert) Shoemaker, Beverly Zimdars, and Jane Meyer; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Randy) Heil and Jody (Gary) Schmidt ; and brothers-in-law, Daniel Boettcher and David (Beth) Boettcher; other relatives and friends.
VISITATION: Carl’s family will greet relatives and friends at St. Martin’s UCC, (592 County Road H, Fredonia) in Fillmore, on Saturday, May 1, 2021, from Noon until 3:00 p.m.
FUNERAL SERVICE: A funeral service for Carl will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, at St. Martin’s UCC in Fillmore. Pastor Dan Noenning will officiate and burial will follow in St. Martin’s UCC Cemetery.
