Carol Gresser

Carol A. Gresser, nee Scholz, age 72, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011 at her home in Allenton.

She was born on December 21, 1938 in Milwaukee to the late Lawrence and Bernadette (nee Burant) Scholz. Carol graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Milwaukee in the class of 1957. She went on to Alverno College and Cardinal Stritch University. On July 24, 1965 she was united in marriage to Joseph Gresser at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

In 1975, they moved to Allenton and have enjoyed the peaceful country living. In Allenton, Carol became very active as a volunteer in the 70's and 80's, as a den leader and committee member for the Boy Scouts. She also served as the Christian Woman's President for one year at Resurrection Catholic Church in Allenton and served on the parish council for one year.

Carol worked as a housekeeper at the Samaritan Health Center and taught accordion. She was a member of the Washington County Senior Center. Carol loved to travel, especially bus trips with friends. She enjoyed bowling, reading, writing and being a Grandma.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph of Allenton; six children, Joseph E. (Karen) Gresser, Jr. of Campbellsport, Karen Hafenbrack of Milwaukee; Renee (Bill) Young of Bloomington, IL, Christopher (dear friend, Ronda) Gresser of Allenton, Kenneth (Tamara) Gresser of the town of Poygan, and Edward (Susan) Gresser of Oshkosh; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Cupertino of Milwaukee; 4 sisters-in-law, Renee (Daniel) Tomkiewicz of Fort Mill, SC, Judy Dietrich of Cudahy, Kathleen (Jack) Pilarski of Oak Creek, and Joan (Emmett) Hicks of Milwaukee; two brothers-in-law, Andrew (Barbara) Gresser of Brookfield and LeRoy (Barbara) Gresser of Belvidere, IL; one aunt, Jeanie Burant of Milwaukee; dear friends, Laurie (John) Apalsch of Allenton and Dawn Sabo of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Saturday, January 15th with a Memorial Mass at 12:00 pm at Resurrection Catholic Church, 215 N. Main Street, Allenton. Rev. Richard Stoffel will preside. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the mass.
