Carol J. Grissman, (nee Troedel), age 78, of West Bend, passed away Saturday March 1, 2014 at Virginia Highlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Germantown.

She was born in West Bend on June 4, 1935 to the late Arthur and Gladys (nee Untch) Troedel. Carol graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1953 and later attended Moraine Technical College.

Carol was a caring, loving, and very strong woman. She had the ability to endure so many hardships and still have a positive outlook. Her sons were the most important people in her life. Carol's loving spirit showed in so many ways, especially by opening her heart and home to her grandchildren. She was an inspiration to all of her sisters.

She was employed as a loan officer for Farmers Home Administration until her retirement. Carol enjoyed crocheting, reading, cards, bowling, and pool. Her favorite word was "Bingo".

Carol is survived by her son, Michael (Belinda) Grissman of Hartford; four grandchildren, Nicole (Tom) Kabitzke, Chad Grissman, Ashley Grissman(Timothy Schmitt), and Josh Spaeth; two great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Dylan Kabitzke; four sisters, Leone Hagner of West Bend, Mary (Bob) Zuern of Allenton, Pat Schmidt of Kohler, and Sue (Steve) Johnson of West Bend; 17 nieces & Nephews; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Arthur & Gladys Troedel; two sons, Greg & Gary Grissman; a brother, Art Troedel Jr.; two sisters and their husbands, Audrey (Jim) Melchert, and Betty (Barry) Werner; three brothers-in-law, Martin Hagner, Tom Schneider, and Marty Schmidt.

Funeral services in remembrance of Carol will be held on Thursday March 6th at 7:00pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St.) West Bend. Deacon Dave Young of Holy Angels Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 pm until the time of service.
