Charles J. “Charlie” Bast, 49, of Milwaukee, formerly of Theresa, was gently embraced by the loving arms of Jesus and taken to his heavenly home on Friday, July 19, 2013, with his loving family at his side.
He was born on July 30, 1963, in Milwaukee, the son of James and Elizabeth (Zimmel) Bast, and on July 17, 1993, he was united in marriage to Julie Hanks in Milwaukee.
Charlie attended the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. He was a skilled web designer, artist and musician. Charlie was a compassionate, loving, kind and honest husband, father and friend. He will fondly be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor up until the end. Charlie will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Those Charlie leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 20 years, Julie; three children, Bree, Sienna and Jacob; his parents, Elizabeth (Neil) Mixdorf of Townsend and James (Shirl) Bast of West Allis; his mother-in-law, Nancy Andrews (Gerald Stark) of Brownsville; a brother, Michael (Tiffany) Bast of Hudson; two sisters-in-law, Sandy (Mike Sebald) Collier of Lomira and Brenda Hanks of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Bast and his father-in-law, Lawrence “Larry” Hanks.
Funeral services for Charlie were held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lomira. Rev. Kerry Wilson officiated and burial followed in St. Theresa Memorial Gardens in Theresa.
The Bast family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
The Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira was entrusted with Charlie’s arrangements.
