Charles R. Voss, age 87 of West Bend, was called home on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 2, 1924 in West Bend, to the late Herman and Marie (nee Wiechers) Voss. Charlie served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. On September 7, 1957, he was united in marriage to Elvera Laubenstein at Holy Angels Catholic Church.
Charlie worked for Amity Leather as a cutter for 44 years where he made many lifetime friends before retiring in 1986. He enjoyed being a member of Amity's 25 year club. He was a member of the Adrian Neubauer VFW Post 8658 in Barton and enjoyed marching in the Memorial Day parade. Charlie took pride in donating blood and made 182 donations in his lifetime. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending Packers, Braves, and Brewers games. Charlie loved taking his family fishing in northern Wisconsin.
Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elvera of West Bend; five children, Denise (John) Kenworthy, Michael Voss, Stephen (Catherine) Voss, Thomas (Katherine) Voss, and Janean (Jason Rogers) Voss; seven grandchildren, Nathan (Jade) Kenworthy, Dylan Kenworthy, Rebecca Voss, Elizabeth Voss, Ian Kenworthy, Andrew Voss and Matthew Voss; one great-grandchild, Victoria Kenworthy; sister, Helen Schneider; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frieda Laubenstein, Roman (LaVerne) Laubenstein, Howard (Shirley) Laubenstein, Elmyra (David) Martin; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Howard Voss; brothers-in-law, Elroy Laubenstein, Marvin (Angie) Laubenstein, Armin (Bernice) Laubenstein.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 13th at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 138 N. 8th Avenue, West Bend with Rev. Nathan Reesman presiding and Deacon Ron Schneider assisting. Burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral home, 1315 W. Washington Street, West Bend on Wednesday, October 12th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and again on Thursday at the church from 11:30 am until the time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Albrecht Free Clinic or WWII Honor Flight are greatly appreciated by the family.
