Cheryl A. (Sommerfelt) Mazur

July 5, 1958 — December 22, 2020

Cheryl A. Mazur (nee Sommerfelt), 62, of West Bend passed away on December 22, 2020 surrounded by her family at Froedtert Hospital West Bend.

Cheryl was born on July 5, 1958 in Milwaukee to the late Jerome and Delaphine (nee Slupianowski) Sommerfelt. Cheryl was united in marriage to her loving husband of 43 years, Dale Mazur, on November 5, 1977 at St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

Cheryl was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. She recognized Jesus as her Lord and Savior and loved reading her Bible. She also enjoyed cribbage, scrabble, puzzles, shopping, and watching movies. Cheryl was a talented gardener and would spend countless hours outside planting (and replanting) flowers, her favorite being oriental lilies.

Above all else, she treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had many nicknames, but Grandma and Nana were her favorites and she loved to play endlessly with them. She will be remembered for her kindness, laughter, warm smile, and her beautiful bright blue eyes, which all eight of her grandchildren inherited. Her family will be able to see and remember her while looking at them.

Those Cheryl leave behind to cherish her memory include her husband, Dale; four children, Kevin (Mary) Mazur, Leann (Jordan) Schaefer, Laura (Matthew) Kolinski, and Katelyn (Andrew) Kolb; her eight grandchildren, Jackson and Addison Mazur, William and Lily Schaefer, Hannah and Nathan Kolinski, and Phillip and Samuel Kolb; her father-in-law Donald and his girlfriend Stella; siblings, Sandra DeCarlo, Gary (Faith) Sommerfelt, Kathleen (Daniel) Lehman, and David Sommerfelt; sister-in-law, Diane (Al) Akins; brother-in-law, Dean (Hope) Mazur; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Delores Mazur; brothers, Michael and Robert Sommerfelt; sister, Patricia Jablonski; and sister-in-law, Beth Tammi.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church in West Bend with entombment at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Milwaukee.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the third floor Med-Surge Unit at Froedtert West Bend Hospital for all their help and care.
