Christine J. “Chris” Hooten, 70, of West Bend, formerly of Port Washington and Milwaukee, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.
Chris was born on November 11, 1951, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (nee Gorski) Christensen. On August 16 1975, she was united in marriage to Greg Hooten at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa. Greg preceded Chris in death on March 29, 2013.
Chris was an avid tester of many new recipes and loved using Greg as her Guinea pig. She spent countless hours honing her craft and skills into beautiful needle pointing and arts and crafts creations. She loved to travel and experience outdoor activities especially up north at their second home/cottage. When she was blessed with grandchildren, she loved spending hours interacting with them as they grew. They loved having the chance to visit grandma and get into all her knickknacks she kept ready for them every day. When in doubt, you could always count on Chris to have her love of Cheeseburgers shine through at every place she went.
Those Chris leaves behind to cherish her memory include her son, Curtis (Rachel) Hooten; three grandchildren, Rayna, Chloe, and Madax; a brother-in-law, Rev. James Zuehls; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Chris was preceded in death by a sister, Karin Zuehls and a brother, Douglas Christensen.
In honor of Chris’ wishes a private celebration of life will be held on February 6, 2022.
The Myrhum – Patten Funeral and Cremation Service has been entrusted with Chris’ arrangements. Additional information and guest book may be found at www.myrhum-patten.com.
