Christopher P. Mauritz

July 7, 1950 — July 31, 2012

Christopher P. Mauritz, 62, of Theresa, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk, following a 4 ½ year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.


He was born on July 7, 1950, in Oshkosh, the son of Edgar and Patricia (Hahn) Mauritz, and on August 11, 1973, he was united in marriage to Elaine Schnitzler at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa. His beloved wife preceded him in death on January 11, 2009.


Christopher was a 1968 graduate of Lourdes High School in Oshkosh and a 1972 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh receiving an art degree. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.


Christopher was a member of the Theresa American Legion Post 270, the Theresa Historical Society and St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa, where he was a choir member. He was also a member and outreach coordinator for PANCAN.


Christopher enjoyed photography, art, model trains, gardening, motorcycles and decorating his home during holidays. He will be deeply missed by his family and by those who knew him.


Those Christopher leaves behind to cherish his memory include two children, Elizabeth (Shankar) Mauritz of Michigan and Edward Mauritz of Theresa; his mother, Patricia Mauritz of Oshkosh; his grandson, Rishi; his brother, Robert (Gretchen) Mauritz of Menomonee Falls; his sister, Cynthia Mauritz of Missouri; a special friend, Patricia Schaller, other relatives and friends.


In addition to his wife, Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Edgar; his mother-in-law, Marion Schnitzler and a niece, Kelly Schnitzler.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Christopher was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa. Father Dennis Budka officiated and burial, with military rites, followed in St. Theresa Catholic Church Cemetery in Theresa.


Relatives and friends called on Sunday at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m., where a prayer service was held at 5:00 p.m.


In lieu of flowers, memorials to Kathy Hospice Flag Memorial are preferred.
