Christopher "Chris" Wetzel

Christopher “Chris” Wetzel, age 55, of Milwaukee, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 in the care of Luther Manor Nursing Home and Hospice after a lengthy illness.

Chris was born on December 5, 1966, in Milwaukee to Lawrence and Rosemary (Reinhard) Wetzel. As all who knew him could attest, Chris was an avid sports fan with a particular love for football, baseball and golf.  For many years he shared his love of football as a high school football coach at Cedar Grove-Belgium, always referring to the team members as “his kids”, proudly talking about them and their accomplishments. Chris also spent many hours refereeing local grade school basketball, running up and down the courts in his black and whites, whistle in hand.

Those Chris leaves behind to cherish his memory, include one sister, Denise (Neal) Stoffel; two brothers, Michael (Julie) Wetzel and Scott (Linda) Wetzel; five Nieces, Angela (Tim) Pagel, Nicole (Jim) Hucke, Randi Jo Wetzel, Alyssa (Brandon) Uhlir, Madeleine Chahine; three Nephews; Jonathan (Clara) Stoffel, Ryan Stoffel and Christopher Wetzel; and ten Great Nieces and Nephews. He was Godfather to Randi Jo and Christopher, both holding a special place in his heart.  He also leaves behind many good friends, those of recent years as well as those that have stayed close since childhood.  He will be missed dearly by all.

Chris was preceded in death by his Maternal and Paternal Grandparents as well as Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

A Memorial Service for Chris will be held at a later date.
