Clair Bigler, Jr

January 13, 1940 — October 12, 2012

Clair E. Bigler, age 72, died on October 12, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital following a stroke that occurred on October 10th.

Clair was born in Goshen, IN to Clair E. and Louise (nee Schmitt) Bigler.

He earned his B.A. and M.A. in English at Ball State University and Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After teaching at Hobart High School and Valparaiso University, he began teaching at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County campus until his retirement as Professor Emeritus in 2003.

Clair is survived by Nancy (nee Smith), his wife of 48 years, many special friends and relatives, and the cats, Barney and Fred.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters.

In addition to playing tennis, he also enjoyed photography, playing the guitar and mandolin, traveling, bird watching, and many other outdoor activities.

In honor of Clair's wishes, there will be no service.

Memorials may be made to the H.O.P.E. Scholarship, Washington County Campus Foundation, UW-Washington County, 400 University Drive West Bend, WI 53095.
