Clara W. Zimbrick, nee Grothe, 93, of West Bend, passed away Monday, August 25, 2008 at Dove Health Care Center in Glendale.
She was born on September 22, 1914 in Flint River Township, Iowa to the late Charles and Wilhelmina (nee Mumme) Grothe. On Nov. 21, 1940 she was united in marriage to Clarence H. Zimbrick at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dolton, Illinois. Clarence passed away on May 23, 1979.
Clara was employed at Ley's Dept. Store and as a secretary at the West Bend Company for many years. She was also an active member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend.
She is survived by two children, Corrine Kraus of Bayside, and Charles (Emilie) Zimbrick of Fremont, CA; a daughter-in-law, Gale Zimbrick of Cecil; a son-in-law, John Kraus of Shorewood; six grandchildren, Catherine Kraus, Jason Kraus, Rachel Zimbrick, Laura Zimbrick, Michelle (Jim) McGlin, and Christopher Zimbrick; three step-grandchildren, Bobbet (Kurt) Little, Tammy (Brian) Stueck, and Sandy Kennedy; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Meta Radtke of Arlington, MA; a sister-in-law, Avalin Grothe of Crawfordsville, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Clarence Zimbrick, Jr., three brothers, Herman Grothe, August Grothe, and Walter (Maxine) Grothe; and two sisters, Marie Grothe and Victoria Grothe.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Ave., West Bend. Rev. George Mumm will officiate and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Visitation will be at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend, on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
