Claude E. Setser

Claude E. Setser, 94, formerly of Brownsville and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.


He was born on August 31, 1914, in Hampshire, Illinois, the son of the late Keith and Edith J. (Heineck) Setser, and on November 30, 1946, he was united in marriage to Leola Zahn at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira. His wife preceded him in death on May 4, 1999.


Claude served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He was employed by Brownsville Canning Company as the secretary/treasurer for the company. He was the CEO during the liquidation and sale of the company.


Claude was a life member of the Elks Lodge in Plantation, Florida, a member of the Neosho-Mayville-Horicon Masonic Lodge and a member of the Tripoli Shrine Club for 50 years.


Survivors include his brother, Charles (Joan) Setser of Fond du Lac; a nephew, John (Margaret) Setser of Appleton; his cousins, Marion (William) McGowan of Florida, Ben (Judy) Hagman of Reeseville, Sue Kurth of Arizona and Dean (Linda) O’Conner of Columbus, Indiana; two great-nieces, Ruthann and Hannah Setser, a great-nephew, Richard Setser, ten additional nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Claude were held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home, 565 Sunrise Avenue in Lomira. Rev. William Carter of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brownsville officiated and a private burial was in Lowell Cemetery in Lowell.


Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
