Clemens H. “Clem” Birenbaum, 84, of West Bend, formerly of Fillmore, went home to his Father and beloved wife on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Kathy Hospice surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 3, 1924, in the town of Holland, the son of the late John and Susan
(Feyereisen) Birenbaum. On December 11, 1976, he was united in marriage to Patricia J. “Patsy” (Weinreich) Heise at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. His wife preceded him in death on September 19, 2007.
Clem was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg. Clem had a big heart, loved children, was a practical joker and devoted to his faith. He enjoyed woodworking, was an avid gardener and enjoyed bird watching. Clem enjoyed over 20 years of retirement after his working career with Gilson Brothers in Fredonia.
Clem was loved by his stepchildren, Jeannie (Leon) Schultz of Cascade, Scott (Denise) Heise of Fillmore and Candi (Mark) Miller of the town of Farmington. Other surviving family members include five step-grandchildren, Jeffrey (Robin) Hammen, Joel (Micheal) Hammen, Jamie (Michelle) Hammen, Janine (Terry) Howell and Makayla Heise; six step-great-grandchildren, Mara Hammen, Hailey Hammen and Tristan Hammen, Talan, River and Poetry Howell; four brothers, Raymond Birenbaum of Arizona, Vincent Birenbaum of Dacada, Eugene (Alice) Birenbaum of Belgium and Richard (Shirley) Birenbaum of Cedar Grove; a sister-in-law, Beatrice Birenbaum of Random Lake; two brothers-in-law, Clayton (Gladys) Weinreich of Fillmore and Vernon Weinreich of Leesville, South Carolina, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Clem was preceded in death by a sister, Marie (Alvin) Wollner; a sister-in-law, Clara Birenbaum and a brother, Joseph Birenbaum.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Clem was held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 8881 Forestview Road, Kewaskum (St. Michaels). Father Edwin Kornath and Father Guy Gurath concelebrated and burial was at 11:00 a.m. on Monday in St. Martin’s Union Cemetery in Fillmore.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
