Cordelia "Cordy" Skuldt

Cordelia "Cordy" Skuldt, nee Wernecke, age 87, of West Bend, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center in the town of West Bend.

She was born on October 8, 1917 in the town of Newton, WI to the late Victor and Lydia (nee Rodewald) Wernecke. She graduated from Plymouth High School and later attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She graduated with her B.S. in Education in 1938. Shortly after college, she was united in marriage to Harold Skuldt on June 5, 1942 in Plymouth, WI. Together they moved to West Bend in 1948 where they raised their family and hosted two AFS students, Yoshi from Japan in 1965 and Christy from Belgium in 1970.

Cordy worked for the West Bend School District for 15 years as a third and fourth grade teacher before retiring in 1980. Her passion for education lead her to continue working with young students as a volunteer after her retirement.

She was a former member, and past president of both the West Bend Women's Club and the AAUW. She was also a member of Sweet Adelines, Children's Theater, the Cedar Community Choristers, and many other local organizations. Cordy was extensively involved in the community through many volunteer organizations.

She was a former member of Immanuel UCC where she served on consistory and sang in the choir for many years. In 1992 she and her husband moved to the East Village of Cedar Community.

She is survived by her loving husband, Harold. She was the proud mother of two sets of twins and a pair of singles, Karen Skuldt of West Bend, Eric (Janet) Skuldt of Rochester, MN, Dale (Denise) Skuldt of Kingwood, TX, Kristin (Lon) Blaser of Eau Claire, Mary (Roy) Ames of Broken Arrow, OK, and Ann (Ron) Mattson of Pearl City, IL. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren, Jim, Dean (Juliet), Jon, D.Jon, and Beth Skuldt, Jennifer (Tim) Langer, Emily, Ben, and Greg Blaser, Tom and Stephanie Ames, and Maija Mattson; two great-granddaughters, Lucia and Cordelia Skuldt; a sister Helene Tink of Dekalb, IL; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Margaret Wernecke, and a brother-in-law A. Kerby Tink.

A memorial service is planed for Saturday July 16, at 2:30 pm at the Cedar Community Theater. Please use the Theater Entrance. Visitation will be at the theater from 1:30 pm until the time of service at 2:30 pm. Fellowship with the family will follow the service. A private family graveside service will be held in honor of Cordy.

Memorials to Cedar Community, Cedar Community Hospice, or to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Cedar Community and the Cedar Community Hospice as well as Dr. Lewis and Dr. Listwan of the Aurora Clinic for the outstanding comfort and care that was given to Cordy and her family.
