Cory E. Rutherford, 20, of the town of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 4, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.
He was born on February 22, 1990, in Fond du Lac County, the son of Hugh E. “Mick” and Diane (Mettel) Rutherford, III, and had recently completed electrician classes at Moraine Park Technical College in West Bend. Cory held the rank of black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Cory will fondly be remembered for his sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh and enjoyed dressing up in costumes. He enjoyed many hobbies including playing his guitar, disk golf, regular golf, riding his motorcycle, playing video games, trapshooting, snowmobiling, fishing, playing basketball and jumping on the trampoline. He loved spending time with family, friends and especially his nieces and nephews. Cory touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by his family and by all who knew him.
Those Cory leaves behind to cherish his memory include his mother, Diane; three sisters, JodieLee (Jeremy) Coronado of Kewaskum, Lorie Rutherford (Rob) of Fillmore and Karie Ann (John) Gadouas of West Bend; his special love, Leah Brown; his paternal grandparents, Hugh E. and MaryAnn Rutherford, Jr. of Arbor Vitae; his maternal grandmother, Alice Swearingen of Milwaukee; his nieces and nephews, Dylan Maechtle, Jade Danielson, Dakota Krueger, Dezerae Rutherford, Sybil Gadouas, Raymon Coronado and Aria Coronado; his uncle, Larry (Shotsie) Mettel of Milwaukee, his cousin, Michael Mettel, other relatives and many friends.
Cory was preceded in death by his father and his maternal grandfathers, Rudolph Mettel and Kenneth Swearingen.
Funeral services for Cory were held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2010, at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Rev. Mark Eckert officiated and cremation followed the service.
Relatives and friends called on Monday at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.
