Daniel R. Gawel, age 23, of West Bend, died at Froedtert Memorial Hospital and went to be with God, Monday, January 10, 2005.
He was born September 23, 1981, the beloved son of Raymond and Shirley (Holz) Gawel.
His greatest passion in life was his relationship with God, his spirituality and sharing that spirituality with others around him. His biggest love in life was being with and playing with his niece, Catherine, watching her grow and learn.
His other passions included classic and muscle cars of the 60's and 70's; the study and collecting of old swords and their replicas; his dog, Duke and his cat, Sneakers.
He is survived by his parents; a sister, Donna (Michael) Miller of Kewaskum; a brother, David Gawel of Racine; a beloved niece, Catherine Miller of Kewaskum; his paternal grandparents, Henry and Ruth Gawel of Montello; his maternal grandparents, Roy and Ruth Holz of Watertown; seven aunts and seven uncles; many cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by 2 uncles, Tony Grippo and Bernie Gawel, and one aunt, Marge Zimmerman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Fifth Ave. United Methodist Church, West Bend. Rev. Jean Bartlett will officiate and burial will be on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Cedar Creek Cemetery in the town of Polk. Visitation will be at the Myrhum - Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
