Daniel P. Gollwitzer, 44, of West Bend, WI passed away on April 28th, 2021 at the hospital while fighting his battle with pancreatic cancer with his loving wife by his side.
He was born on October 13th, 1976 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Mary A. Ehn and the late Gerald E. Gollwitzer and on September 15th, 2012 was united in marriage to Danyell G. Salandich-Cain.
Dan was a loving, kind, strong and devoted friend, son, brother, father and husband. Dan was a happy, smiling, kind soul from a child and throughout his life and everyone remembers him as “such a nice guy”. He was always following and enjoying his favorite sports and teams including the Yankees, Carolina Tarheels and Packers. Dan was a hard-working driven individual that worked his way through starting as a salesman at LKQ Corporation/Keystone Automotive all the way up to the General Manager over the course of 17+ years. He was always learning about his interests and completed college to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration-Marketing shortly after the birth of his first daughter in 2013. Dan became a Daddy in November of 2013 and again in both October 2016 and June 2020. He was a fun, loving and dedicated Daddy and Husband. He always put the needs of his family both at home and at work above his own. Dan and his wife had recently moved and settled down at a home in West Bend and found and joined the wonderful church family of Northbrook in Richfield. Dan’s young family life was just beginning and his dreams of owning a farm and raising animals and tending gardens and spending days with his precious children and wife were taken away in our feeling too soon. Dan’s diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer in late February 2021 was a complete shock. Dan fought hard in the little time he was given to continue to be present for his family, work and friends despite his own pain and suffering. Dan was born again and baptized along with his wife on Easter weekend 2021. Dan was completely trusting that God would fully heal him and take away his pain from his cancer. He is now completely healed, and his pain is gone. Dan believed along with his family in God’s perfect timing and since his presence was that of an Angel here on earth, we believe he is now spreading his wings with his Savior up in Heaven and watching over his family and friends from above.
Those Daniel leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife Danyell (8 years of marriage), his beautiful daughters River (7 years old), Meadow (4 years old), his sweet son Lance (10 months old), his adoring mother Mary, caring brother David (our sister in heart-Sheila Kautz) along with many other cherished relatives and friends.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father Gerald E. Gollwitzer as well as his grandparents and uncle.
